Scotland Turns Green?

2008 July 12

According to this morning’s Scotsman a ‘green mood’ is sweeping Scotland, leading thousands of Scots to “step up to the challenge of fighting climate change”. The article marks the first six months of the ‘Let’s Go Green Together’ campaign – a partnership between the Scottish Government and the Scotsman. The Scotsman reports that:

Almost 3,000 people have signed up to some of ten pledges to lead a greener lifestyle, from using the car less to recycling more.

Nearly 100 groups, from schools to scouts, have been in touch with the Scottish Government after thinking of ways to help the environment, in an effort to get a share of its £18.8 million Climate Challenge Fund. (Scotsman)

Among the changes reported by the Scotsman is the rising popuarity of local foods in Scotland, evidenced by the success of the Fife Diet, with a reported 300 participants.

For the full list of 50 changes representing this shift, check out the article online, or page 4 of today’s Scotsman.
